W. Coast of Fla Rainfall??

Posted by Jake on 10/17/2009, 1:48 pm

Hurricane Ranger,

As a long time South Florida resident, the reason the west coast received lessor than normal rainfall this year was due to a persistent mid-upper level trough over the SE US. This caused an unusually constant W-SW flow off the gulf, which lead to convective development further inland over the everglades and east-coast. Normally, a SE deep layer flow is more a common across S. Fla during the summer.

In my opinion, this has nothing to do with global warming. But more of an anomaly.
