| The storm started here in earnest in the middle of the night, and we woke up to high winds and very hard rain. There are major traffic problems - at least one fatal accident thus far - flooding on even major highways, tree limbs down, etc. There is a bit of a lull in the rain right now where we are in Berkeley, but it is set to fire up again in a few hours, with more heavy rain. This feels much like a minor tropical storm (to those of us from the Gulf Coast) but is a pretty major event out here. Thank God we chose not to drive, but to rely on the BART system! |
