I agree with your analysis jack ruby, I think that strengthening will become quite difficult and Danny will have a very tough time reaching hurricane strength. Shear profiles will increase as you stated with the approaching long wave trough moving off the CONUS. Also, OHC will decrease significantly north of 32N. Now through 36hrs, he will be in an area of highest potential energy, but this is being hindered by the ULL you mentioned.

I also, think that he will remain off shore as strongest weather should remain on the eastside.
