I believe (without looking it up) the last time a hurricane made landfall in Delaware was sometime back in the 1800s.

The last hurricane I know of that actually DID anything to the Delmarva Coast was in 1933. (There may have been something in 1944 or thereabouts but am not sure.) I do know that since I was born in 1951 there hasn't been a hurricane on the Delmarva. The only great storm to strike that peninsula during my life was a super nor'easter in March of 1962 that did more damage than all the other storms I've seen in my life combined.

A full-fledged hurricane (not a tropical storm leftover) passing OVER the Delmarva is awfully rare.

Wouldn't you agree?
