Okay, another question then....

Why 90? Why not start at 01 each year? Specific for the type (Atlantic, Pacific, etc.)? Kinda like Naval Carrier aircraft side numbers that are based on type/mission?
Example: (FYI - there are no 8s or 9s in side numbers 'cuz IFF [Identification Friend or Foe] is an Octal system - 0-7 only) - 100-117 = Fixed Wing Fighter - 200-217 = Fixed Wing Fighter - 300-317 = Fixed Wing Attack - 400-417 = Fixed Wing Attack - 500-507 = Fixed Wing Electronic Warfare - 600-607 = Fixed Wing Airborne Early Warning, Command & Control - 610-617 = Rotary Wing Anti-Submarine & Search and Rescue - 700-707 = Fixed Wing Tankers & Anti-Submarine (phased/phasing out)
Thanks for the info Jim. |
