The wave far out in the eastern Atlantic has some company.

A new system has popped up near the Windward Islands in the eastern Caribbean, according to the National Hurricane Center's 2 p.m. tropical weather outlook.

Development is expected to be slow to occur as it moves west at 10 to 15 mph and chances are less than 30 percent it will become a tropical depression or storm in the next 48 hours.

Wave number 1 is still more than 3,000 miles from North America, and it still has a 30 to 50 percent chance of become the season's second tropical depression, or Ana, the first tropical storm, in the next 48 hours.

"Then there's a bunch of waves over the African content behind that, so it could be an interesting week," hurricane center spokesman Dennis Feltgen said this afternoon. "The peak of the season is starting to build, so we'll be watching them."
