| You can click a username on a message page to access a profile. Where it says "Posted by Chris_in_Tampa", you can click on my name to access my profile. You can access an "About Me" section and a location if a user posts it. And if they allow people to contact them by email, you can even email someone else. The reason was due to forum performance. In order to have a signature that someone can change at will I would have to access another file every time someone loaded a message. I already sacrifice some forum performance using a counter, especially one based on IP addresses. If a signature became an option in the future, it would be something that would be permanently attached to a message so it would not impact the forum's performance. Then I could include a checkbox that would allow you to add a permanent signature. I will think about it. I would only allow it for names if I did it. Anything else would not be allowed in a signature. (photo or link) |
